ADC Telecommunications HiGain T1 Equipment and Copper and Fiber Connectivity

ADC Telecommunications was founded in 1935 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, by Ralph Allison and Walter Lehnert. ADC acquired PairGain Technologies in 2000. TE Connectivity completed its acquisition of ADC on December 9, 2010, and in 2015 CommScope bought the TE broadband network business that included ADC.

ADC's telecom business grew out of the jacks, plugs, patch cords and jackfields it developed by 1942. It later added copper and fiber connectivity, fiber access equipment and wireless coverage products, and through PairGain, the HiGain line. Central offices and campus networks keep T1 and cross-connect hardware in service for years, so replacement hardware for earlier systems stays in demand.

HiGain is the PairGain and ADC line of HDSL systems for carrying T1 service over unconditioned copper: two pairs in HiGain HDSL and a single pair in HiGain HDSL2. HiGain line units install in central office shelves, and the remote units at the far end provide the T1 interface toward the customer.
