Ashcroft Pressure Gauges, Pressure Transducers, Switches and Thermometers
Edward Ashcroft made his first Bourdon tube pressure gauge in 1852, and the company dates itself from that year. Ashcroft is headquartered in Stratford, Connecticut. In 2006 Nagano Keiki Co., Ltd. acquired Ashcroft Holdings, Inc. from KPS Special Situations Funds.
Ashcroft makes pressure, temperature and test instruments. Its pressure line covers pressure gauges, among them the Duragauge, along with pressure switches, pressure sensors and transmitters, and diaphragm seals. Its temperature line covers thermometers, thermowells, temperature switches, RTDs, thermocouples and temperature transmitters, and its test line covers calibrators, hand pumps and test gauges. A replacement gauge is matched by dial size, connection size and location, and pressure range, the same details an Ashcroft order code spells out.
A Duragauge 1279 order code reads left to right. In a code such as 45-1279-SS-02L, 45 is a 4-1/2 inch dial and 1279 is the Duragauge type. The next two letters set the tube and socket material and the case design. 02 is a 1/4 NPT male connection, and L puts it at the bottom of the case, where B would put it on the back. Option codes follow, then the pressure range and its units.
