Black Box KVM Extenders, Networking Products and Environmental Monitoring
Eugene Yost and Richard Raub founded the company in 1976 as Expandor Inc., on Beatty Road in Monroeville, Pennsylvania, and it became known for its Black Box Catalog. AGC Networks acquired Black Box Corporation in 2019, and in 2021 AGC Networks changed its own name to Black Box.
Black Box designs and makes KVM, AV, cabling and networking products and provides IT infrastructure services. Its environmental monitoring line, under the AlertWerks and ServSensor names, tracks temperature, humidity and other conditions in data centers, server rooms, offices and industrial sites. Network closets and control rooms often keep Black Box extenders, converters and monitors in service for years, so a replacement is matched by the Black Box part number.
