Hoffman began in October 1945, when founder Harry Hoffman designed an automation press guard. In 1988 Pentair agreed to acquire FC Holdings, the holding company for Federal Cartridge and Hoffman Engineering. Pentair separated its electrical business in 2018 as nVent, and Hoffman is now part of nVent Electric plc. Hoffman builds electrical enclosures to NEMA and IEC standards, along with thermal management products.
nVent Hoffman's range runs from wall-mounted and floor-standing enclosures and terminal boxes to thermal management, cable management, power distribution and general enclosure accessories.
A NEMA Type 3R enclosure is built for indoor or outdoor use and protects the equipment inside from falling rain, sleet and snow. Shelves, panels and mounting kits are made to fit a given enclosure size, so accessories are matched to the enclosure they go in.
