Honeywell Pressure Transmitters, Sensors and Micro Switch Switches
Honeywell dates to 1906, when Mark Honeywell founded the Honeywell Heating Specialty Company in Wabash, Indiana. AlliedSignal acquired Honeywell in 1999 and kept the Honeywell name, and the company moved its headquarters to Charlotte, North Carolina, in 2019. Honeywell bought Micro Switch of Freeport, Illinois, in 1950 and added Sensotec in 2003.
Micro Switch began with the precision snap-action basic switch, and its Freeport plants also build Hall effect sensors, pressure transducers and flow sensors. Sensotec, of Columbus, Ohio, made sensors for pressure, torque, load, force, temperature, acceleration and displacement. For process plants, Honeywell built its ST 3000 smart pressure transmitters for differential, absolute and gauge pressure in two lines, Series 100 and Series 900. Plants that standardize on a transmitter or switch family tend to keep it for the life of the installation, so earlier Honeywell models stay in demand as replacements.
