MELTRIC Switch-Rated Plugs and Receptacles, Handles, Angle Adapters and Boxes

MELTRIC, based in Franklin, Wisconsin, is the U.S. manufacturing arm of Marechal Electric. In 1952, after seeing an accident with a pin and sleeve device, Gilles Marechal devised a plug and receptacle with butt-style contacts that make and break the load like a switch. MELTRIC licensed the technology in the early 1980s and makes UL and CSA switch-rated plugs and receptacles with push-button disconnection and built-in provisions for lockout and tagout.

MELTRIC's lines take in switch-rated plugs and receptacles in the DS and DSN series, standard duty devices in the DR series, along with high ampacity, multipin, direct current, high temperature and hazardous location devices, and a full set of accessories: handles, cord grips, angle adapters, boxes and flush mounts.

Accessories are made for a given device series and size, so a box, handle or angle adapter is matched to the plug or receptacle it serves. An angle adapter mounts a receptacle or inlet at an angle instead of straight out from its box.
