Snowden-Pencer Laparoscopic Instruments, Needle Holders and Surgical Scissors
Snowden-Pencer has made surgical instruments for more than 50 years. Genzyme bought Deknatel Snowden Pencer in 1996, a deal that moved Genzyme into surgical instrumentation. The brand is now part of BD.
Snowden-Pencer makes hand-held surgical instruments, among them laparoscopic instruments in a large variety of jaw patterns and needle holders for plastic surgery, including Diamond-Jaw models. Its instrument lines have included Diamond-Line instruments and Switch Blade surgical scissors. Reusable instruments go through many cleaning and sterilization cycles, and hospitals replace them one at a time, matched by catalog number to the set they belong to.
