Product Overview
5-Pack, 7/8"-9 x 5-3/4" ASTM A193 B7 Alloy Steel Threaded Rods - Chromium-Molybdenum, High-Strength, High-Temperature Bolting
Condition
Unused, clean, and in excellent condition. These five threaded rods were originally sourced as spares for a US Federal Government project. Photos show the specific units you will receive - uniform coarse threading, dark bronze-toned alloy steel finish, no visible corrosion or damage across all five rods.

Product Overview
ASTM A193 B7 fully threaded rod, 7/8"-9 x 5-3/4", alloy steel (chromium-molybdenum, AISI 4140/4142). Manufactured to ASTM A193/A193M Grade B7 specification for high-strength bolting in demanding industrial environments. Sold as a set of five. This grade delivers minimum 125,000 psi tensile strength and minimum 105,000 psi yield strength in diameters up to 2-1/2", with reliable performance in high-temperature and high-pressure service.

Applications
- Replacing worn or failed fasteners in bolted flange assemblies on pipelines and pressure vessels - install rod, torque with ASTM A194 Grade 2H heavy hex nuts, confirm joint integrity before returning to service
- Anchoring structural elements to concrete foundations on industrial facility construction, where load calculations require B7-grade tensile and yield minimums
- Securing hanging and fixturing points for heavy process equipment where elevated ambient or operating temperatures rule out standard carbon steel fasteners
- Maintenance rebuilds on chemical or petroleum processing equipment where in-spec fastener replacement is required for pressure-boundary compliance
Frequently Asked Questions
What nuts are compatible with these threaded rods?
ASTM A194 Grade 2H heavy hex nuts are the standard pairing for ASTM A193 B7 threaded rods in bolted flange and pressure-vessel applications. The 7/8"-9 thread is UNC, so any nut with that thread specification and the appropriate grade will fit.
Are these weldable?
No. ASTM A193 B7 is not considered weldable due to its chromium-molybdenum alloy composition. Design accordingly if welded connections are part of your assembly.
What is the temperature limit for B7 service?
ASTM A193 B7 is rated for high-temperature bolting service. The standard service temperature limit is 700°F (371°C).
Is B7 suitable for sour-gas or hydrogen-sulfide environments?
No. Environments containing hydrogen sulfide (H2S) or prone to stress corrosion cracking require ASTM A193 B7M, which is the lower-hardness variant qualified for sour service per NACE MR0175. Standard B7 is not rated for those conditions.
Are nuts or other hardware included?
Not included. This lot is five threaded rods only.
Government-spec surplus with a known pedigree and untouched threads - five rods ready to go into the joint that actually matters.
