Industrial Scientific Gas Monitors and Docking Stations

Industrial Scientific began in 1976 as the research division of the National Mine Service Company. In 1985 the division was sold to its founder, Kenton McElhattan, and became an independent company headquartered in the Pittsburgh area, where it opened a 200,000 square foot headquarters in Robinson Township, Pennsylvania, in 2015. Fortive, the parent company of Fluke and Tektronix, acquired Industrial Scientific in 2017.

Industrial Scientific designs and manufactures intrinsically safe gas detection equipment made to work as personal protective equipment. Its range covers single-gas, multi-gas and area monitors, with lines such as GasBadge, Ventis, Tango and Radius, and DSX docking stations that charge, bump test and calibrate the monitors. Gas monitors are bump tested and calibrated on a schedule, so docks and calibration gear stay in use as long as the monitors do.
