RACO Electrical Boxes, Covers, Fittings and Conduit Bodies
RACO started in 1921 as the Roach Appleton Manufacturing Company near Chicago, Illinois, founded by Walter Roach and Ernest Appleton to make steel switch boxes and outlet boxes. Nine years later it moved to South Bend, Indiana, which is still its primary manufacturing site. RACO entered the electrical fittings market in 1960, launched nonmetallic boxes in 1969, and is part of Hubbell.
RACO makes electrical boxes, covers, enclosures, fittings, floor boxes, metallic and nonmetallic wallplates and weatherproof products, and its fittings include conduit bodies for rigid and IMC conduit.
Conduit bodies handle bends in a conduit run, ease wire pulling and leave an access point for later maintenance. In the L types, which make a 90 degree turn, the letter after L names where the access cover sits: LB on the back, LL on the left and LR on the right.
