Product Overview
Canberra's 8701 is an analog-to-digital converter in the Nuclear Instrumentation Module (NIM) format. It takes shaped pulses from a spectroscopy amplifier and turns each pulse height into a channel number for a multichannel analyzer. Conversion gain runs from 256 to 8K channels on the front panel selector, with digital offset toggles, lower and upper level discriminators and a choice of pulse height or sampled voltage analysis.

Every peak on a gamma spectrum started as a pulse height that something had to sort into a bin. The 8701 did that sorting up to eight thousand ways, and it can go back to work in your bin.
