Ingersoll-Rand Air Compressors, Compressor Parts and Power Tools

Ingersoll Rand took its name in 1905, when the Ingersoll-Sergeant Drill Company merged with the Rand Drill Company. Its roots include the Ingersoll Rock Drill Company, founded by Simon Ingersoll in 1871, and the Rand Drill Company of brothers Addison Rand and Jasper Rand Jr. In 1986 Ingersoll-Rand and Dresser Industries formed the Dresser-Rand joint venture, and Ingersoll-Rand sold its Dresser-Rand interest in 2004. In 2020 Gardner Denver merged with the industrial segment of Ingersoll-Rand plc and took the Ingersoll Rand name, while the HVAC segment became Trane Technologies. The company is headquartered in Davidson, North Carolina.

Ingersoll Rand grew out of rock drill makers, and its industrial lines grew to include air and gas compression, vacuum and blower products, pumps and fluid management equipment, and power tools and lifting equipment. Reciprocating compressors wear through valves, valve plates, piston rings and packing over their service life, and replacement parts are matched by the Ingersoll-Rand part number in the compressor's parts book.
