Product Overview
Carrier's OPN-VAVB3 is the i-Vu zone controller for fan-powered VAV terminals. It mounts directly on the damper shaft, drives the damper with its own actuator, reads airflow through the High and Low flow ports for pressure-independent control, and switches the fan and heat stages from three binary outputs labeled HEAT1, HEAT2 and FAN/HEAT3. It talks BACnet MS/TP on the building network, with an Rnet port for the zone sensor.
Key Features
- Integral damper actuator with clamp, actuator release button inside
- Flow pickup ports marked High (with filter) and Low
- Binary outputs labeled HEAT1, HEAT2 and FAN/HEAT3, Class 2, 24 V max, 1 A max
- Analog output 0-10 Vdc, 5 mA max
- Inputs labeled RH/CO2, T55 thermistor, SAT and REMOTE
- BACnet MS/TP with selectable baud 9600, 19.2k, 38.4k and 76.8k, two rotary address switches
- Rnet port for a zone sensor, local access port
- Power 24 Vac, 50-60 Hz, Class 2; CR2032 battery holder
- cULus listed enclosed energy management equipment, CE marked, Made in USA
Applications
- Replacing a failed OPN-VAVB3 on a series or parallel fan-powered box without rewiring the zone
- Adding a VAV fan terminal to an existing i-Vu or BACnet MS/TP system
- Keeping a matched spare for a building that runs a floor of identical fan boxes
Frequently Asked Questions
Does it include the damper actuator?
Yes. The actuator is built into the controller and clamps onto the damper shaft.
Is the instruction sheet included?
Yes, with the bagged tubing assembly and hardware.
What network does it use?
BACnet MS/TP, with the baud rate set by switch on the board.
Is this the same controller as the OPN-VAVB3 already on my box?
The controller label reads VAV Zone Fan Terminal (OPN-VAVB3) and the carton label reads Part # OPN-VAVB3, Type 002101, so the number matches one for one. This one has never been installed. Flat-rate shipping in the lower 48, and orders over the free-shipping line ship free.
A fan-powered box spends its life deciding how much air a room deserves. This controller is the part that makes the call, so put it on the shaft and let the zone get back to work.
