Product Overview
Spectrum Illumination MRL2.5, model MRL2.5-WHI, is a 2.5-inch white LED ring light in the Monster Series, designed for machine vision inspection applications. It mounts around a camera lens to deliver bright-field illumination directly onto a target part, enabling cameras to detect defects, read codes, or verify dimensional features. The Monster Series uses a proprietary current-controlled driver architecture - this light requires a compatible Spectrum Illumination LDM driver (LDM350/2 is the standard pairing) and cannot be connected directly to a 24VDC supply. Direct connection to 24V will destroy the LEDs. Four high-brightness white LEDs provide consistent, repeatable illumination suited to the close-range inspection distances typical of 2.5-inch ring light deployments.
Key Features
- Model: MRL2.5-WHI - 2.5-inch outer diameter Monster Series ring light

Frequently Asked Questions
Why wasn't this light tested before sale?
The MRL2.5 requires a Spectrum Illumination LDM driver to operate - it cannot be powered from a standard 24VDC bench supply without destroying the LEDs. That driver was not available at the time of evaluation, so only visual inspection was performed. The light shows minimal use and no physical damage. Buyers with an existing LDM driver should be able to confirm function immediately upon receipt.
Which driver is required and where can one be found?
The standard driver for this model is the Spectrum Illumination LDM350/2, a DIN-rail mounted current-controlled driver. Other LDM-series drivers in the Spectrum Illumination Monster ecosystem may also be compatible. LDM drivers appear regularly on the secondary industrial market. Do not attempt to operate this light from a generic 24V power supply under any circumstances.
Is the color confirmed as white?
Yes. The model suffix -WHI designates white and that designation is confirmed for this unit. White is appropriate for general-purpose bright-field inspection where color neutrality and broad-spectrum reflectance are needed.
What is included with the light?
One Spectrum Illumination MRL2.5-WHI ring light. No LDM driver, no mounting hardware, no cables, and no documentation are included.
Where did this unit come from?
Recovered from a large lot of decommissioned semiconductor manufacturing equipment. It arrived as a spare part rather than a component pulled from active service, which accounts for its low-use cosmetic condition.
Four LEDs, 2.5 inches, white - the part is defined. Whether it belongs in a retrofit or a fresh build is the buyer's call to make.
